Colourpop Pressed Shadow Swatch & Review!!

So a while back Colourpop released their pressed shadows, selling them for $5 a pan. As May is their birthday month, they did a 3 for $10 on their pressed shadows and Super Shock Shadows (which are a cream-like but powder formula).

I jumped at the chance to purchase these as they also did free worldwide shipping - usually you have to spend over $50 to be eligible for free worldwide shipping. I've ordered from Colourpop 3 times, and I tend to make sure I buy everything I want because I don't want to pay that customs fee...

Out of the 3 times I've purchased from Colourpop, I've been charged for customs all 3 times. The price will range depending on either weight or amount you spent. But it will always be over £8 as Royal Mail charges £8 as a handling fee.

The price I've had to pay for customers was around £16 for my first purchase of roughly $51 in October/November 2015, £19.55 for a purchase worth $52 (April 2017), and £17.86 for an order of $42 (May 2017).

If you are going to order off of Colourpop, expect a customs fee!

Now onto the fun stuff!!!
This time round, I mainly just bought pressed shadows. I only have 1 of their Super Shock Shadows and I was debating on whether or not I want more but I find storing them to be a pain/just more inconvenient because they take up so much space compared to a pressed shadow that I can put in a magnetic palette.

These were the eyeshadow pans I purchased placed all into one magnetic palette (this one is the Morphe ACC10, purchased here on Beautybay)

I purchased 8 of their single pressed shadows - 4 of them are part of the Sonya Esman pressed shadow collection set! FYI if you're questioning why I bought 8 pressed shadows when it was the 3 for $10 offer, I had bought 2 of the shadows before the offer when I did a purchase in April...😂

The Sonya Esman pressed shadow set wasn't a set I intended on purchasing - I purchased this set for $18 (which is less worth it than the offer) but 1) the colours looked super nice and 2) I really wanted the little palette it came in!

If you didn't know, you can actually take the foam divider from the palette out so that it's like a regular magnetic palette! The only 'negative' of doing this would be that when you line up the shadows next to each other, theres going to be a gap left over on the side (that may or may not bother you).
The colours in the Sonya Esman palette picture looks super washed out (sorry!), the sun was shining so bright when I was taking the picture and I had to try edit out the dried up rain drops on the window (you can still see them on the palette😭😭)
(I can't clean the window because it's coming from outside of the window and I can only open my window a small amount - I live in my uni halls, in case you were wondering😂)

Anyway, these shadows are so smooth and nice to swatch! They're not as creamy as the ABH eyeshadows but I'd say they're comparable to the Makeup Geek shadows (int terms of creaminess and pigmentation)

Here's a more in depth shot of the shadows swatched, starting from the top row:
From top to bottom: 'Pep Talk', 'Labyrinth', 'The News', 'Come and Get It' and 'Moscow Sunrise' (from the Sonya Esman palette)

And the second and third row:

From top to bottom: 'Hear Me Out', 'Golden Gate Bridge' (from the SE palette), 'The Hidden Hills' (from the SE palette), 'Note to Self', 'Manhattan Coffee Run' (from the SE palette), 'I Owe You' and 'Game Changer'

I've got to say, my favourite shades are probably Pep Talk, Come and Get it (it's such a nice pink and gold duochrome shadow), Manhattan Coffee Run and Game Changer! My May 2017 Colourpop purchase came up to $42.98 which when converted to GBP was £34.34, plus the £17.86 customs fee charge, so a total of £52.20. (In that order, I bought 6 single shadows, the Sonya Esman palette, a creme gel liner, and it also came with 3 mini ultra satin lips for free).

Heres a closer shot of the swatches:

I really like these eyeshadows, I've had a little play around with them on my eyes and I have no complaints, they're easy to blend and I'm super happy with the shades I chose! After doing 2 Colourpop hauls within the space of a month of each other (stupid of me for then having to pay customs fee twice, but I seriously couldn't resist the offer), I think I'm pretty stocked up on Colourpop products, I just pray I have enough willpower to refrain from giving into another one of their offers😂😫

Have you tried the Colourpop pressed shadows for yourself? What's your favourite shade, or what's your favourite shade from the shadows I bought and swatched? I'd love to hear your thoughts♡

  1. These shades look gorgeous! I have some of the super shock shadows but I just never reach for them as I find they're kind of hard to apply but these ones look perfect! I hate the customs fee that comes with Colourpop though :( great review and photos lovely!

    1. Sorry for the delayed reply Ellie, but thank you!! I agree, the formula for the SSS are really unique but I struggle finding the best method to apply them!! Wish the customs fee would be lower!!
